President Obama and Negative Rights

Barack Obama concisely sums it up:

It didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the founding fathers in the Constitution, at least as its been interpreted and Warren Court interpreted in the same way, that generally the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties. Says what the states can’t do to you. Says what the Federal government can’t do to you, but doesn’t say what the Federal government or State government must do on your behalf, and that hasn’t shifted and one of the, I think, tragedies of the civil rights movement was, um, because the civil rights movement became so court focused I think there was a tendency to lose track of the political and community organizing and activities on the ground that are able to put together the actual coalition of powers through which you bring about redistributive change.

Exactly.

Imagine you are on a desert island with only one other person, and you are hungry. His negative right would constrain you from taking his food. But your positive right would compel him to give you his food.

Multiply that by millions and millions of people, and you can see how negative rights leads to exploitation of the worker, and how positive rights leads to the liberation of the worker.

And that is one of the biggest problems with Amerikkka's KKKonstitution. That is, the warped concept of "negative liberties" constrains the government. It says that the government has no right to help its people. That the people lack the positive right to demand what they need.

So, the new constitution must be reformulated with positive liberties. That is, the right of the people to get what they need. To demand food, shelter, clothing, healthcare, education, a media free of fascist thought, a world without Zionism, etc.

In short, a proper constitution would be an living and breathing orgy of emotional eruptions that would satisfy the peoples' cries for social and economic justice.

Remember: If something, anything, is demanded, then someone else ought to be compelled to provide it. It is your positive right that makes this happen.

God Damn Amerikkka! God Damn the Amerikkkan KKKonstitution!

Presidential Debate III

I was very proud of Barack Obama at last night's debate; he has been listening to me!

I played back this debate fourteen times already (with the McCain parts erased), and although I would like to post the entire transcript here, fourteen times over, I will only select the best of Barack:

And the financial rescue plan that Senator McCain and I supported is an important first step. And I pushed for some core principles: making sure that taxpayer can get their money back if they're putting money up.

Of course everyone will get their money back. That’s why they must contribute, whether or not they think it’s a good idea. If this was a bad idea, we would not make the taxpayers contribute.

Making sure that CEOs are not enriching themselves through this process.

Again, correct. When CEOs become rich, everyone else gets a smaller piece of the pie.

I want to end the tax breaks for companies that are shipping jobs overseas and provide a tax credit for every company that's creating a job right here in America.

This is only fair. Taxpayers need to pay more in order to ensure that Americans spend less time working in industries like aeronautics and pharmaceuticals -- and instead recover the jobs that are done abroad, like sewing buttons on clothing.

That's why we included in the financial package a proposal to get homeowners in a position where they can renegotiate their mortgages.

Trivial. Simply force people who are making mortgage payments to also make payments for those who are not making mortgage payments. They shall be sent two bills: One for their own homes, and one for the homes of those who cannot pay.

And 95 percent of working families, 95 percent of you out there, will get a tax cut.

And when we teach the remaining 5% what it is like to really pay taxes, it will have no effect whatsoever on prices that the remaining 95% pay.

And that requires us to make some important choices

I weep with joy at lines like this. To see the best, the brightest, and the most concerned make important choices for the people!

Then Exxon Mobil, which made $12 billion, record profits, over the last several quarters, they can afford to pay a little more so that ordinary families who are hurting out there -- they're trying to figure out how they're going to afford food, how they're going to save for their kids' college education, they need a break.

That’s right, you selfish bastards at Exxon Mobil. How about ponying up a little more, like maybe a dime a week, to provide the starving people, the near-corpses lying in the gutter, the most basic sustenance so that you can whip some more work out of them.

But there is no doubt that we've been living beyond our means and we're going to have to make some adjustments.

Oh yes! Yes, yes, yes, yes, YES!! Wayyyy beyond our means! Notwithstanding the Exxon Mobil inflicted famine referenced above, the rest of us are driving cars (we need more buses, peeps!), eating too much fast food (nationalized food co-ops, my dream…), and using too much energy (you don’t have to actually cook potatoes, you know).

…if we're going to focus on lifting wages that have declined over the last eight years and create jobs here in America, then Democrats, independents and Republicans, we're going to have to be able to work together.

I believe that universal conscription into an anti-capitalist youth corps will create plenty of jobs when they burn the banks, put wrecking balls to Walmart, and trash rich people’s homes. Full employment will be achieved to fix everything so that we can destroy it again.

Bill Ayers is a professor of education in Chicago.

A professor and a friend of mine, I might add. Those qualifications should negate anything else about him, however fabricated.

ACORN is a community organization…

The evidence is in, not guilty!

…it is absolutely critical that we develop a high fuel efficient car that's built not in Japan and not in South Korea, but built here in the United States of America.

As aggressors against the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, I fully agree that Japan and South “Korea” should be punished, severely. And to accomplish this, we should draft Americans from whatever other jobs they’re working on – and put them to work (with rich people’s tax dollars) to build a non-polluting car in GM and Ford factories. No matter how much GM, Ford, and the AWU object to receiving tax dollars, this is an important move that must be done.

And when it comes to South Korea, we've got a trade agreement up right now, they are sending hundreds of thousands of South Korean cars into the United States. That's all good. We can only get 4,000 to 5,000 into South Korea. That is not free trade.

Thank you, Barack, for pointing that out. And don’t forget: Italy sends us hundreds of thousands of gallons of olive oil, but we can’t get any of our olive oil into Italy. That is not fair trade, either.

If you want to do the right thing with your employees and you want to provide them health insurance, we'll give you a 50 percent credit so that you will actually be able to afford it.

That’s half way to a 100% tax credit, which is on the path to a 100% government subsidy. Fact: When one group of taxpayers gives money to a second group taxpayers, then the second group can afford things (like healthcare) easier, and there is no effect on the first group – like the employees who paid the taxes to begin with. If you cannot understand that, then you truly are hopelessly uneducable.

All I want to do, if you've already got health care, is lower your costs.

Fact: Costs can always be lowered when a leader wills them to be lower.

And finally, this question:

The question is this: the U.S. spends more per capita than any other country on education. Yet, by every international measurement, in math and science competence, from kindergarten through the 12th grade, we trail most of the countries of the world. The implications of this are clearly obvious. Some even say it poses a threat to our national security. Do you feel that way and what do you intend to do about it?

And Barack’s answer:

…we are going to have to invest…

An investment! Clearly, spending more than any other country is not enough, and only an investment can remedy this.

…recruit a generation of new teachers…

More teachers! Quantity always equals quality, so more is more.

… an army of new teachers…

Armies of teachers! I hope the AFT does not object.

…give them higher pay…

Highest costs per capita in the world…pay them more! Wait…I’m in academia, so I need more, too! Pay me more! I am entitled to more!

… and I think it's important for us to make college affordable….

So true! So true! And here it comes…

And that's why I've proposed a $4,000 tuition credit, every student, every year, in exchange for some form of community service, whether it's military service, whether it's Peace Corps, whether it's working in a community.

Gaaaaaa!! Tuition credits! Community service! Conscription for the common good! I played that part back well over one hundred times. If the leader wills it, it shall be free!!!! Please, Barack! Let’s give every student $100,000 per semester to attend college! That will really drive tuition down.

.. If we do those things, then I believe that we can create a better school system.

And then we can do the same thing to everything else, from food to clothing to manufacturing to the arts to research to literature to the entire realm of anything and everything that anyone does anywhere, anytime, and anyplace.

I turn all decisions to you, my new leader -- for if you will it, it will happen.

God DAMN Amerikkka!

The Presidential Debate

"Democracy is indispensable to socialism."

- Vladimir Lenin

As were most other viewers, I was sickened to watch John "W." McCain taunting Barack with racist slurs.

But in the long run, it will not matter. Barack held his own, and reminded the Amerikkkan voters that:

- They are suffering because of rich people

- They are suffering because of Bush

- They should not have to pay off their loans

- They are struggling, struggling, struggling

- They work hard with nothing to show for it; rich people do nothing except make money off of working people

- The government needs to be bigger

- Oil companies will be punished

- The financial crisis is a result of Bush's regulation-free Wild West "laissez faire" banking system

- Rich CEOs are to blame for all problems

- We should reduce trade with other nations. (I personally feel strongly about this, and would hope that President Obama will follow a Juche economic plan.)

- Everyone will get free health care

- We can't afford another eight years of what this country just went through; we need to return to October 2000.

- McCain wants to hand over $4,000,000,000 to the oil companies. Remember: A tax reduction is the same thing as a gift. (I also strongly agree with this. The government is entitled to everyone's money, and anything that the government does not collect is most certainly a gift.)

- Private insurance companies are now getting an annual $15,000,000,000 gift.

- Health care is bankrupting otherwise solvent citizens

- A few rich people are making everyone else poor

- We need new infrastructure, new roads to the most remote rural areas, and a new electrical "grid".

- We will get a "Google for Government" because the government is better at providing clear and useful information than Google itself.

- Money spent in Iraq should instead be spent on expanding social programs here

- Bush: An orgy of spending

- Iraq: We lost

- Sanctions: They work

- Tougher sanctions: They work even better

- Kissinger: He took my line, let's meet with Iran

- Energy: We need a strategy

- Drilling: Can't drill our way out of problems

- Solutions: Solar, wind and biodiesel

- Veterans Affairs: Give them more money

- Investments: What we need to do to education so that ordinary people can live out their dreams

- Me: Not ordinary

- Kenya: Land of my father

Well, good for Barack that he understands what the working people need to hear. With these sort of insightful policy prescriptions, I suspect that most people will be voting Democrat.

Put another way: If a responsive government can give the people everything they need from those who can most afford to pay for it, then it is almost axiomatic that the majority will vote with their heart.

And the majority is always right.

Solidarity, brothers and sisters.

We are getting much closer to the next stage of capitalism's death spiral.

An Open Letter to President Kim Jong-Il

To His Excellency, the Glorious Dear Leader Kim Jong-Il:

Hello, my name is Professor Peter Kurgman, PhD, PhD, PhD. I am an accomplished (and tenured!) professor who has earned three PhDs.

Now, just in case you glossed over that last paragraph, please permit me to indicate that I have three PhDs.

Specifically:

- Sociology of Postdialectic Gender Ethics and Political Sexuality, PhD

- Desemiotic Cultural Paradigms and Peace Education, PhD

- Philosophy of Communal and Neocultural Distributive Ethics, PhD

As a highly educated world leader, I am sure that you are impressed by my extraordinary achievements and feel compelled to read on. I can’t blame you!

But enough about me.

May I invite you, President Kim, to help my nation? You see, Amerikkka is being run by a cabal of maniacs—led by a deranged madman, George W. Bush. In the name of Christianity, he stole two elections, eliminated all human rights, launched genocidal oil-wars against the Sun People of the Middle East, and in general has been far more cruel and ruthless than Hitler ever was. And, regrettably, my occasional mid-afternoon hunger protests have been for naught.

We are suffering, President Kim!

And this is why I was delighted, President Kim, to see that you are the last true hope for Amerikkka. Yes, I despise “nukes”; believe me, I’ve put in many a strenuous afternoon protesting at some rather high-profile generating stations. (Yes, I am ashamed that this country needs electricity; if only we could follow the lead of your green “no-electricity” policies!) But my “NO NUKES” screaming was futile. I stood across the street from the White House screaming at that bastard Nixon, but the Death Machine was rolled out – and today, President Kim, Amerikkka is littered with deadly nuclear power stations.

But, President Kim, I would like to extend a personal invitation for you to come to Amerikkka and see how the people, the REAL people, are trying to create a society that we can all be proud of. Did you know that many of our governments have special laws to protect the rights of gays, lesbians, and the transgendered? Yes, we do! Just like your Korea! And we have all sorts of anti-hate legislation, just like in Korea. And I think you’ll really like our recycling programs; maybe we can swap ideas!

Please visit my university, Mr. Kim, and sit in on one of my classes. (Incidentally, I have three PhDs.) In my course called “Contextual Multiculturalism in Postmetastructuralist Foundations”, we carefully advocate full multiculturalism, including an intensive appreciation of Juche. In fact, our Juche module requires a full two weeks of student narratives on the many contributions of you and your father, may he rest in peace—even though, of course, he will never be, technically, dead.

But more to my main point, President Kim, could you please fire some nuclear bombs on a few Southern states—and especially on Texas? As you can see, in the rest of the country, we are really trying to emulate your beautiful nation. We’re not perfect, but we’re trying! What we need is a brave liberator who fully understands the meaning of equality, equality, and equality.

The Revolution is almost here, President Kim, and all we need is a little assistance in destroying the enemies of the people.

If only Amerikkka could be transformed into another Korea!

I look forward to your response.

Love,

Professor Peter Kurgman, PhD, PhD, PhD

The Charter of Progressive Politics: What We Demand

A Progressive Charter must be written, and I accept the burden of writing it.

The Charter of Progressive Politics: What We Demand

1) Ending Racism. This can only be accomplished by identifying people by their race (white, black, Muslim, sun, ice, etc.) and ensuring that benefits accrue to each group as we see fit.

2) Job Security. Unionized civil service is the model that we must apply to every job; guaranteed lifetime wages for two decades of work. Payment will be made by rich people, as their wealth was accrued by raping the working class anyway.

3) Equality of Outcome. All differences in the status of individuals are a direct result of racism. By smashing racism, we will acheive equal outcomes. Anyone who remains better off (notwithstanding policy experts who require additional compensation) is therefore, by definition, guilty of racism, and will be punished.

4) Universal Civil Liberties. This includes the right to free medical care, free housing, free education, free food, free clothing, and whatever else the Progressive Courts deem to be free. History has shown us that if anything is willed to be free, then it shall be free.

5) Jobs. Jobs, jobs, jobs. It's all about jobs. Good jobs. High-payng jobs. Jobs. After prohiibiting exploiting sweatshops like Wal-Mart, Starbucks, McDonalds, and especially Chick-fil-A, our government will supply all the jobs. Good jobs.

6) Pro-Children. The children are our future. We must therefore tax their parents. Hard. It's for their children.

7) Anti-war. Simply put: All wars are started by either Amerikkka or The Zionists. This is because the former are profiteering war-mongers, and the latter are Nazis. We must therefore work with our allies (France, Iran, the CCCP, etc.) to smash Amerikkka and the Zionist Entity.

8) A Big Beautiful Benevolent Government. There are three types of people: The ruling class, the working class, and the thinking class. The ruling class must be smashed so that the thinking class can prescribe benevolent policies for the working class. I am in the thinking class. You are probably in the working class. But I am a lot like you: The thinking class is, in fact, identical to the working class, but with high-level academic credentials. Equal, but better.

9) Anti-development. When so-called "property " is developed, birds, trout, and black people suffer. Nature's way is best. No development. Anywhere. Ever again. In fact, the resources that would have gone into development will be freed to go into high union wages instead.

10) No Special Privileges. Equal treatment for all, except to obtain equal outcomes for all. But that is not a "special privilege". Neither are special accomodations for the thinking class "special privileges"; we need more because we think more, to enhance the common good. Profits are special privileges, however, and must be elimimnated.

11) Anti-bankers. Bankers are a major cause of poverty, dislocation, and oppression -- while serving no useful purpose. They are the fourth class; the enemy (or criminal) class, which will not exist in our improved world.

12) Anti-speculators. Speculation is unearned wealth made on the backs of working people. Speculating must be abolished; all decisions must have risk-free deterministic outomes. This can only be acheived by expanding the government to the entire economy. And by eliminating the criminal class.

13) Anti-wealth. Wealth breeds corruption, and a poor populace breeds government honesty. Also, material posessions are an affront to nature.

14) Anti self-interest. All deeds must be selflessly done for others without any expectation, or hope, of compensation. When people no longer expect rewards related to their efforts, they will work harder for the pleasure of it. Of course, their basic needs will be met by regular guranteed government checks.

15) Education. Strong teachers' unions, no private competition, and curriculums designed by government-appointed experts are the keys to quality education. Along with higher school taxes. It's for the children.

16) Freedom of Speech. This is the bedrock of democracy. Except for television networks. And advertising. And radio broadcasts. And anti-union agitation. And job interviews. And tenant interviews. And hurtful or insensitive comments about one's race, religion, ethnicity, gender, sexual preference, veteran's status, age, weight, height, and criminal record.

If there are any attorneys reading this, I would like to request that you expand this document (pro bono) to at least 200 pages without changing its meaning.

The NY Times Analyzes Racial Data

One of the key skills in being an accomplished social scientist is the ability to summarize complex data into their essential message.

For example, what message do you think is being conveyed by this graph? How would you summarize it?

If your answer was “Minority Students Decline in Top New York Schools,” you would not only receive a high grade from me (if I believed in grades to begin with), but you would qualify to be a New York Times headline writer, and you would support that conclusion with statements like this:

“Asian enrollment…has soared over the decade, while white enrollment has declined.”

And you would seek interpretations of that statement like this:

“Robert Jackson, the chairman of the City Council education committee, who is from Washington Heights, was more pointed in his criticism. ‘The statistics clearly show that black New Yorkers are being shut out,’ he said.”

How are black New Yorkers being shut out? By the blatantly racist policy of making them take a competitive exam – a clear violation of their civil rights. Or, as explained by a colleague at one of my alma maters:

“Gary Orfield, director of the Civil Rights Project at Harvard University, called the schools’ racial compositions ‘absurd,’ saying, ‘I don’t think someone would want to hire somebody just on the basis of a test score, and we don’t admit them to a great college on the basis of a test score, and we shouldn’t admit them to a great high school on that basis.”

Clearly, we are dealing with the irreparable effects of slavery that have permanently sentenced People of Color to a status where they will never be able to compete against the Asian slave owners. And that is why all standard measurements are inherently racist. Or, as explained in the NY Times article:

“For years, exclusive public schools throughout the country have been places where advocates of strict, color-blind standards have clashed with proponents of racial diversity.”

Indeed, this entire issue only reinforces my rage at being born white. But I have accepted it, and will confess my guilt. And I confess your guilt, too, my dear reader – as you too are guilty of genocidal racism.

I ought to prepare a simpler sister blog that could be understood by the Community of Color.

Craigslist: Worse Than Nazis

As reported in March, the Chicago's Lawyers' Committee is suing Craigslist for violations of federal housing discrimination laws; here are more details.

Apparently, Craigslist has been publishing classified advertisements that show explicit prefeference based on race, color, religion, sex, familial status, and national origin.

There are 141 examples of such discrimination in the complaint, citing ads including human rights atrocities such as:

- "Neighborhood is predominantly Caucasion, Polish, and Hispanic."

- "All in a vibrant southwest Hispanic neighborhood offering great Mexican culture."

- "The neighborhood is orthodox Jewish for the most part with temples nearby."

- "Very quiet street opposite church."

- "Perfect place for city single."

- "Perfect for young couples."

- "Great for a single young professional or a couple."

- "Terrific 16-unit young professional building."

- "Excellent place for a single or couple."

Am I the only person who realizes that there is no difference between Craigslist and Nazis, except that Nazis are at least honest about their intentions?

In order to remedy this situation, Craigslist will be told to:

A) Desist from publishing discriminatory ads.

B) Develop and disseminate a non-discrimination policy that will include rules, stipulations, and applicable legalities. [I trust that there will be a 250-page lower limit on this document - Prof K]

C) Post a summary of this non-discrimination policy on their every web page.

D) Include a summary of this non-discrimination policy on all emails.

E) Place the phrase "Equal Housing Opportunity" on their every advertisement and correspondence.

F) Report the name of anyone seeking to place a discriminatory ad to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and also to The Chicago Lawyer's Committee. [My favorite remedy, but why not report them to the IRS as well? - Prof K]

G) Provide website links to HUD and The Chicago Lawyer's Committee.

H) Delete accounts of any user who attempts to post a discriminatory ad. [I am assuming that this will include bank accounts. - Prof K]

I) Install screening software to prevent the placememt of discriminatory ads.

J) Send their employees to training at HUD or the National Fair Housing Alliance. [Re-education, the root of corrective behavior. - Prof K]

K) Compensate the Chicago Lawyer's Committee for expenses incurred for their monitoring of Craigslist.

L) Develop a fund to educate others on fair housing laws.

M) Pay attorneys' fees, actual damages, compensatory damages, punitive damages, and other damages.

I seriously doubt that these remedies will be enough. No remedy will ever be enough, in fact, because Craigslist has committed irreversible and permanent damage to the most vulnerable among us: Discrimination victims. Perhaps in the future, the Korean missiles will successfully hit their targets in Amerikkka, and thus wipe out history's greatest source of oppression; Craigslist and Amerikkka both make me ill.

And the racist thugs who advertise on Craigslist must also be corrected; perhaps a reverse class-action suit can be brought against the entire class of Craigslist bigots. But for now, the good news is that this will not end with Craigslist; apparently, Roommate.com is next. And it is only a matter of time until Match.com gets what is coming to them.

With freedom comes strict guidelines for behavior; violators are our enemies. And we will demand total compliance with the will of the community; uncooperative subversives like Craigslist and their advertisers will be dealt with as the plundering fascists that they are. The community will act as one: One group (though with many cultures), one people (though with diversity), with one goal -- complete equality and human interchangeability where every outcome is identical, and therefore without tastes, preferences, and desires.

I loathe Amerikkka.

Bush Worse Than Hitler: The Proof

Yesterday, I inadvertently confused the Democratic Party’s “Take Back America” program with the “25 Points of Hitler’s Nazi Party”.

But upon reading the Nazi platform, it occurred to me that Hitler was more progressive than Bush! Just look at these excerpts from the Nazis:

7. We demand that the State shall above all undertake to ensure that every citizen shall have the possibility of living decently and earning a livelihood.

9. All citizens must possess equal rights and duties.

10. The first duty of every citizen must be to work mentally or physically. No individual shall do any work that offends against the interest of the community to the benefit of all.

12. Since every war imposes on the people fearful sacrifices in blood and treasure, all personal profit arising from the war must be regarded as treason to the people. We therefore demand the total confiscation of all war profits.

13. We demand the nationalization of all trusts.

14. We demand profit-sharing in large industries.

15. We demand a generous increase in old-age pensions.

21. The State has the duty to help raise the standard of national health by providing maternity welfare centers, by prohibiting juvenile labor, by increasing physical fitness through the introduction of compulsory games and gymnastics, and by the greatest possible encouragement of associations concerned with the physical education of the young.

Come to think of it, Hitler was more progressive than today’s weak-spined Democrats. Read this, Nancy Pelosi:

18. We demand that ruthless war be waged against those who work to the injury of the common welfare. Traitors, usurers, profiteers, etc., are to be punished with death, regardless of creed or race.

Say what you will about Hitler, this is incontrovertible proof that Amerikkka would be better off with a leader like Hitler instead of an extreme right-wing fascist like Bush.

Take Back America!

The Democrats are proposing a new direction for America that will put the common good first. As you know, I am a huge proponent of the Common Good. In fact, let’s look a little closer at the Democratic Party’s idea of what the common good means:

The party as such represents the point of view of a positive Christianity without binding itself to any one particular confession. It fights against the Jewish materialist spirit within and without, and is convinced that a lasting recovery of our folk can only come about from within on the principle:

COMMON GOOD BEFORE INDIVIDUAL GOOD

Wait, wrong Socialist Party there.

But regardless, as a community, as a society, as an entity, as a people, and as a Progressive Force for change, caring, and helping, no person remains an island unto himself or herself or gender-neutral self. Policy prescriptions are designed by policy experts (ahem!) to benefit everyone, not individuals. And in a democracy, the majority is what matters, and only a selfish monster would think only of himself or his family.

Now, let’s look at the specifics of Taking Back America:

1) Make health Care More Affordable: Fix the prescription drug program by putting people ahead of drug companies and HMO’s, eliminating wasteful subsidies, negotiating lower drug prices and ensuring the program works for all seniors; invest in stem cell and other medical research.

The Democrats want to “put people ahead of drug companies”. Yes, in theory this is a fine idea, but where are the specifics, peeps? Nancy Pelosi said that we had enough of paying high prices to increase profits of [Zionist] drug companies. Damn right! But are we going to remove their profits? We had better, if we want to put the people first – because profits impede care. Frankly, we would all be better off if the drug company executives were carted off to prison and we, The People, relied on proven holistic remedies.

2) Lower Gas Prices and Achieve Energy Independence: Crack down on price gouging; eliminate billions in subsidies for oil and gas companies and use the savings to provide consumer relief and develop American alternatives, including biofuels; promote energy efficient technology.

This is a good start, but why restrict price-gouging crack downs to just gas prices? Why should the rest of the bourgeoisie [Zionist] retailers be allowed to rape us? Let’s defend The People against price-gouging supermarkets, restaurants, clothing stores, appliance centers, etc., etc., etc. Ask yourself: Who knows better what the correct prices should be: Multiple-degreed policy experts, or uneducated middlemen?

In fact, why don’t we The People, take over the oil companies? Why are we so afraid of the insane right-wing extremists? Let’s look beyond the Democrats for some really fresh ideas.

3) Help Working Families: Raise the minimum wage; repeal tax giveaways that encourage companies to move jobs overseas.

A $400 minimum wage would be a good start towards helping the working class. And, of course, we should never give away our taxes; we should keep them. No, that’s not right, either. That is, we should of course be taxed, but the taxes should go towards investments in areas like nationalizing oil companies. Regardless, companies should never be allowed to go overseas. A purely domestic economy is a healthy one.

4) Cut College Costs: Make college tuition deductible from taxes; expand Pell grants and slash student loan costs.

Absolutely! I salute you, Democrats, for wanting to provide universal free college educations. Nothing improves a person more than being in college – and especially if they are fortunate enough to be in one of my classes. We should also mandate ten-year undergraduate programs; four years is simply not enough.

5) Ensure Dignified Retirement: Prevent the privatization of Social Security; expand savings incentives; and ensure pension fairness.

Again, why stop with Social Security; i.e., shouldn’t we be fighting against the privatization of everything? We can start with nationalizing supermarkets. There is indeed no dignity in retiring with a private pension. In fact, there is no dignity in working at a private company. There is no dignity in working at all! Work is merely a tool for the capitalist class to expropriate the value that we create. That’s your damn free market. And that’s why your damn gas stations, damn colleges, damn health care, and damn Social Security don’t work.

Fortunately, the Democrats have a plan (albeit a weak one for now) to return the ownership of these enterprises to the working class – to be administered by experts on behalf of the people – with no profits ever again.

6) Require Fiscal Responsibility: Restore the budget discipline of the 1990s that helped eliminate deficits and spur record economic growth.

Yes, the 1990s were the Clinton years. I did not care for him because he failed to spur a People’s Revolution, but a return to an era of caring would be the right thing. We’re progressives, and we will progress to the 1990s.

What Are Our Rights?

What are "rights"? What are our rights?

What do we mean when we say that people have a "right" to something?

That's a good question I just raised.

Simply put, a "right" is something that you are entitled to. Many countries have constitutions that enumerate rights. For example, the United States has a few piddling "rights" -- most of which are routinely ignored by the nation's fascist ruling class.

So let's look at a better example, like the 1936 U.S.S.R. Constitution. The rights of the Soviet people were exhaustive; they included the right to:

- Work
- Rest
- Leisure (Reduced work weeks, paid vacations, and more!)
- Free health care
- Free education
- Free child care
- Free religious worship
- Freedom of anti-religious propaganda
- Free speech
- Free press
- Freedom of assembly and protest
- Freedom to form trade unions, cooperative associations, youth organizations, sport and defense organizations, cultural, technical and scientific societies

And in addition, the Soviet people were guaranteed gender equity, protection from racial and ethnic discrimination, and complete privacy!

In the 1990s, the great Soviet People were finally worn down by the incessant attacks of the fascists, and are now only beginning to recover their precious rights of generations ago.

But other countries still grant all of the rights encoded in their constitutions. The Cuban Constitution, for example, guarantees schooling, healthcare, access to culture and sports, comfortable housing, and much, much, much more.

And yet, the United States, as an "imperialist, is the promoter and supporter of all fascist, colonialist, neocolonialist and racist manifestations, is the main force of aggression and of war, and the worst enemy of the people." And yes, that quote is taken directly from the Cuban Constitution. And it is accurate.

How can Amerika change? For starters, by granting more rights. Believe it or not, there is almost nothing in the Amerikan constitution that guarantees the people's rights to all of what is available (free and guaranteed!) in socialist states. Where is the right to our free health care? Our free housing? Our free food? Where is our constitutional guarantee that everyone be treated equally -- regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, ability, skills, education, prison history, and so many more aspects of us that are routinely used by others to form unwarranted judgments?

All it takes is a signature to make these things happen. A law promising the RIGHT to free food will result in the immediate abundance of food in everyone's home. And a law promising the RIGHT to free money will result in universal wealth. But, no, the crushing Christian theocracy that rules Amerika will not give us these rights. They say, "You are not entitled!" Really? Well, they are not permanently entitled to keep us down. I have a dream. We will fight -- and we will smash capitalism, Christianity, exploitation, oppression, and Zionism.

These are out rights.

My Three PhDs

It has been brought to my attention that some people are unaware of the disciplines of my PhDs. Although the depth of my academic experience far transcends my degrees, my multiple doctorates are nonetheless irrefutable certification of my vast knowledge, certainty, and analytic ability. I challenge anyone to match these credentials.

- Sociology of Postdialectic Gender Ethics and Political Sexuality, PhD

- Desemiotic Cultural Paradigms and Peace Education, PhD

- Philosophy of
Communal and Neocultural Distributive Ethics, PhD

Higher Education: NOTHING is More Important

According to government statistics, there are more college graduates than ever before in the U.S. – meaning, of course, that people are therefore becoming more educated –- and intelligent -- than ever.

But first, some background. While only 15% of the population over 65 have a Bachelors Degree or higher (i.e., the dumb generation), 28% of those aged 25 to 34 (i.e., the intelligent generation) have that level of education.

(Incidentally, only 1% of the population holds a doctorate; the percentage with three doctorates is too small for a normal mind to comprehend.)

Now, some people claim that this increase in college graduates is a result of an accelerated evolution of the human mind. Although I respect such views, I will leave such speculation to the experts in aphoristic existentialistic nomicism. Far more likely, it reflects the desirability of students to postpone their fate of capitalist slavery in exchange for a few years of enlightenment from insightful professors. And, of course, we also know that one's chances of success in life are determined exclusively by the reputation of their university.

And that is why it is so disturbing to see "studies" (such as this -- just absolute garbage) which fraudulently claim that attending elite colleges does not result in higher earnings.

Going to an academically elite college does not necessarily boost your earnings potential compared to a less elite college, according to a study by Princeton University economist Alan Krueger. In his paper "Estimating the Payoff to Attending a More Selective College," published by the National Bureau of Economic Research, a school's selectivity, as measured by matriculants' average SAT scores, does not correlate with students' later income, once the abilities of the students upon entering college are taken into account....The researchers not only looked at the schools that students attended but also where they were accepted and rejected. They found that where a student applies is a more powerful predictor of future earnings success than where he or she attends.

First of all, as a distinguished professor at a quality university, I am offended by this assertion. So offended, in fact, that I might sue for libel. But legalisms aside, even the dimmest fascists who spread these lies must realize the axiomatic cause-and-effect between superior instruction and an outcome of superior graduates.

Put another way, you are your university. A person can only be defined by where they went to school, where they teach, and the number of degrees they hold. And given those facts (especially the last one), it is therefore plainly evident that my expertise in this area cannot be debated. My lawyers are at the ready.

A Comic for Children

Although my expertise (among other things) is in teaching advanced insights to highly educated pupils, I will now share a comic that you can show to your children. Their malleable young minds need to be formed, and mixing education and entertainment can do the job.

This is cleverly titled “Comrade and Che” -- a synopsis of thought that will lead to social justice.

The dialogue is real, but presented in a way that children can understand, enjoy, and repeat.

We Need Government Supermarkets

As some of you might know, I've been having my share of issues with the fascists who operate my food co-op. Granted, the food co-op is still far better than the robber-baron corporatists who run conventional supermarket chains -- but still, there must be a better way.

And then, I had one of my many inspirations: Public supermarkets, operated just like public schools. That is, if our system of operating public education is optimal, then so should a public-supermarket system be optimal. Think about it: Education is paramount, so it therefore must be public. But food is also very important! So, by extension, supermarkets should also be public!

Here's how public supermarkets would work:

  • Just like public schools, the entire country will be divided into public-supermarket districts -- and people will be restricted to their local supermarket (except for minorities who will be bused into supermarkets in white areas.)
  • Since the stores will be funded entirely by real-estate taxes, all groceries will be free. These taxes will be a fixed amount per household, regardless of household size or how much they eat.
  • The size of the total tax levy (i.e., the supermarket budget) will be proposed by the district managers and put to a popular yes-or-no vote. (A tendency for the big families and big eaters to approve, and for everyone else to not bother voting, will ensure that supermarkets always have reasonable budgets.)
  • The stores will be staffed entirely by union employees with civil-service protections who will not be under the control of either managers or shoppers.
  • The grocery selections and rationing decisions will be determined by state and local food boards. In general, every person in each district will be entitled to identical quantities of the same products.
  • As a temporary measure for political expediency, some private supermarkets will be permitted, but they must pass state food-selection crtieria. And there will be no reduction in public-supermarket taxes for people who wish to shop in private supermarkets; i.e., they must pay twice -- public and private.

It's not even close to utopia, but it's a very sensible first step.

Extended Warranties: Make Them Mandatory!

Have you ever been cheated by unscrupulous businesses? The answer, of course, is: "When have I not been cheated by unscrupulous businesses!"

As we know from basic economic theory, all profits come from either the exploitation or the plundering of the working class. Some other time, we'll discuss the exploitation of the working class, but for now, I would like to focus on the plundering of the working class.

Just as nations became rich by stealing from the disadvantaged (think of Amerika plundering Venezuela, Amerika plundering Grenada, Amerika plundering Nicaragua, Amerika plundering Iraq, Amerika threatening to plunder Iran, etc., etc., etc.), businesses became rich by stealing from the poor-- the bigger the business, the more that was stolen.

Turning our attention to the biggest business, Wal-Mart, we note that they have become rich and powerful by selling defective merchandise to their customers (who, I may add, would never shop at Wal-Mart if they had a choice). The customers bring their products home, they break, and then they pay to re-purchase them. Is it a coincidence that Wal-Mart hardly ever offers extended warranties on their merchandise? No it is not; honesty is inimical to profits.

Allow me to relate a recent personal experience.

At the food coop the other day, I purchased a container of extra-soft tofu. (It was for my digestive issues; some other time, I will dicuss them in great detail.) The tofu cost $1.99, and upon being charged, I demanded an extended warranty.

"If this tofu does not relieve my digestive ailment," I thundered at the cashier, "I will need a replacement product. I demand an extended warranty!"

The cashier feigned ignorance, and told me that the food coop does not offer extended warranties on soft tofu.

At this point I lost justifiably lost my patience and screamed, "WHAT? Did I inadvertently walk into a Wal-Mart? I DEMAND to see the manager at once!"

The manager came out, and I informed him that it was my right, and that it was every person's right, to get an extended warranty. The manager then asked, "Aren't you the guy who was recently in here demanding reparations?"

At that point, I knew how the tortured prisoners at Guantanamo felt, and then, within an inch of the manager's face, I told him that, as a black woman, I will not endure such disrespect.

No, I am not a black woman. But at that moment, when he brought up the topic of reparations, I felt a surge of commonality with my sisters who are still under the yolk of slave-driving racist pigs such as the one standing in front of me.

As the manager wiped my spittle off his face, I promised him that I will never stop fighting for the right of every person to have extended warranties on every purchase.

"Listen to me, you right-wing profiteering scum, and I will explain why everyone is entitled to extended warranties. Have you ever been sick? Have you ever tried getting health care in this depraved country? Well, there are plenty of poor people, old people, young people, minorities, and unemployed who have no access to health care and they simply crawl into the gutter and die when they are not feeling well. That's why we fight for universal health care, and its why we have public education, public housing, public transportation, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, HUD grants, farm programs, energy subsidies, and especially academic grants. People must be protected from the likes of you, and this is accomplished by government generosity. Your damn products are going to fail, and people need protection. And not the false protection of so-called "choice", but the real protection of an all-encompassing guarantee.

"But not everyone can afford to pay for extended warranties -- they have other expenses to pay, like taxes. You therefore can't give them a choice. Instead, you just have to give them. Give them what they need to survive. Give them extended warranties on every product, everywhere, every time. And the people are not asking you, they are demanding it."

If the people deserve universal health insurance, then they also deserve universal consumer-product insurance. If it works with one, it must work with the other.

And, as it happened, the tofu did not ease my digestive issues. So, the next day, I called who anyone would call when they are not feeling well: The ACLU. My experience at the food coop was akin to getting raped. And I will see the rapists in court.

I detest Amerika.

A Letter to a Young Man

There is a conversation on the People's Cube that involves a very misguided young man who yearns for help. I heard his cries, and helped by crafting a letter to him. The entire conversation is here, but if you only want to read the educational part (i.e., my thoughts), I have reproduced my letter below:

***********************************************************************************

My name is Professor Peter Alan Kurgman, cousin of economist Paul Kurgman, and I have three Ph.Ds.

I have been reading your intelligent commentaries with great satisfaction because you could have been one of my own pupils. Of course, you were not really in my classes, as your MIT pedigree includes being educated by professors who, at most, have only one Ph.D. My educated guess (as though it would be possible for me to have any other type of guess!) is that you too have a Ph.D., because of your eloquent locution and incisive analyses.

And yet, you betray your innocent youth by asking questions that have long been answered by those with expertise; i.e., me. Specifically, in reference to the "burning towers", you ask, "Why did they do it?" Well, for starters,we really don't know if those "9/11" attacks actually happened. But if they did, they were caused by a combination of many complex factors:

1. A Mossad plan to frame Arabs.

2. Resistance against the "little Eichmanns" in the buildings.

3. Bush's secret plan to distract the nation from his corrupt oil deals, his stolen elections, his genocide in Iraq, his upcoming genocide in Iran, his goal of establishing a Christian theocracy, and his vice-president's cold-blooded shooting that I will never forget.

4. A divine plan to resolve nineteen personal inner struggles.

And then you ask another earnest, yet naive, question: "Could we find different ways of preventing this from happening?"

Of course we can. In fact, we (meaning our small collective of powerful academic minds) are responsible for the course of all human actions. You see, people are driven by deterministic components; i.e., they have no choice in how they behave. Our professorial input goes in and their personal behavior comes out.

If people succeed, it is because of our visions. If people fail, it is because we did not pursue our visions with enough vigor.

Therefore, with regard to "9/11", we did not pursue our visions hard enough. To be sure, the easy solutions would be to...

1. Abolish the Zionist entity.

2. Imprison the little Eichmanns and all other exploiting capitalists.

3. Impeach, and imprison, Bush.

4. Promote Islam.

But as theoreticians, we (that is, "I") look at the big picture, which is the total application of international scientific socialism in order to subjugate the capitalist class and finally bring true power and equality to the working people. Will you help us make it a reality?

Now, allow me to help you with some of your misguided comments.

Yes, you can wait for time and maturity to clear your thoughts, but it will be faster if I guide you. You may think of me as your Father of Knowledge. If you are a Christian (which I doubt, given your advanced level of education), then you may think of me as your new and better Jesus.

1. You defend Google. Are you not aware that Google is a private (Strike one!) profit-making (Strike two!) American (Strike three!) company? As we all know, the only path to profits is on the backs of the poor. How is it that you have not mentioned the unionization of all Google employees? For that matter, you claim to have worked at Microsoft, which is a non-union shop! Are you aware that your employment at Microsoft took a job away from a union employee? No, you are not aware of that. But, please, never accept employment at a non-union shop again.

2. Your aunt, by believing that "the enemies of the people existed and needed to be squashed" was a wise woman. Do you not empathize with that?

3. You place equal blame on both parties, and on liberals and conservatives. Were you my intellectual equal (which might happen someday!) I would challenge you to mention even one liberal ideal, one cause supported by Code Pink, or one goal of United for Peace and Justice, that is flawed in any way.

4. You say you agree with parts of "The Fountainhead". Please reread that book. I never even picked it up and I detest everything about it. Only through youthful indiscretion could you find anything even remotely positive about that vile volume of fascist trash.

5. You attended a school with Noam Chomsky on the faculty, and did not take one of his classes? I hope you never regret that.

6. You would consider joining the military? The military? First, you do not support unions, and now you would support the military? I spent my entire sophomore year camping outside the dean's office (without changing my clothing even once!) to resist the military, and you would support the military?

7. As a feminist, I take great offense at your mention of "sagging breasts". Do you really intend to diminish and objectify an entire gender like that? And I'll bet you like having sex with them, too! Why not? After all, what else are they good for! I suppose that you also feel that womyn come with "expiration dates"? And that they cannot be firepersons? That they cannot succeed in the NFL?

Yes, a person with less sympathy than yours truly could easily paint you as an exploitative, misogynistic, and militaristic fascist. But as your new Jesus, I forgive you.

Normally, when I hear offensive speech, I either call a boycott or call my lawyer. But in your case, I have sincere hope that you can and will be educated without legal action. You see, this is where I disagree with Mr. Red Square. He blames your education, but I do not. Clearly, you went to the wrong school and studied the wrong disciplines. Science and computers certainly have their place for those with shallow, numeric minds -- but you have the potential to continue beyond that, into the dimensions of feelings and expression.

Let your emotions guide you, and remember my helpfulness.

You are, after all, a person with unlimited potential.

Craigslist and Match.com: Human Rights Violators

From CNN :

A federal lawsuit accuses the online site Craigslist of violating fair housing laws by publishing discriminatory classified ads, reviving the question of what legal boundaries, if any, should exist for postings on the Internet.

For starters, let's hope that Craigslist is shut down permanently and their owners are hit with multimillion dollar lawsuits for pubishing real-estate ads where race, gender and religion are mentioned.

Among the housing ads cited as objectionable by the Chicago Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law Inc. were ones that read "NO MINORITIES," "Requirements: Clean Godly Christian Male," and "Only Muslims apply."

Sickening.

But we can
't stop with Craigslist.

An even worse violator is Match.com.

Just look at ther main page, wher
e they explicitly ask people to discriminate on gender, age, and address.

When I dug a little deeper at Match.com, I found endless discrimination based on race, religion, education, height, weight, hair color, and all aspects of appearance. So, what I want to know is: Why should they get away with this genderism, ageism, racism, weightism, etc., etc., etc.?

If these criteria are illegal to buy a house or hire an employee, then certainly they must be abolished for the more critical activity of selecting a partner.

Obviously, Match.com is worse than slavery and worse than "The Holocaust", and their subscribers must be severely punished. Are there any lawyers listening?
