Upcoming Bay Area Events

So many events to attend!

3/18/2006
ATA Gallery, 992 Valencia Street, at 21st Street, in san francisco's mission district

Lil' Hitler from Halliburton

We invite all dissenters to vent some righteous outrage at arguably the war’s prime mover, (Vice) President Cheney. We were lucky enough to snag this Canadian made-for-TV expose that shines the light of day on this sleazy, greasy war pig, a man who extols the virtues of torture, and wants land-mine production brought back online. So let’s call it a Pig Roast, with pork (and tofu) sausages freely dispensed.

Women's Building, 3543 18th Street, San Francisco

We Interrupt This Empire...

The only weapons of mass destruction that have been seen in Iraq are the ones used by the United States military as it drops bombs on Iraqis and destroys whole cities like Fallujah. We can draw inspiration from this film that helps us remember our recent history of resistance on the streets of San Francisco. We must put the billions of dollars spent on the war back into our communities.

3/17/2006
New College Theater
766 Valencia Street (near 16th Street Bart)

Ward Churchill "Indigenism, Anarchism and the State"

Ward Churchill's scholarship endures the test of time. Rational, angry, yet ultimately hopeful, his is a leading voice against the ongoing genocide perpetrated on Native American peoples and the international crimes of the US government.
3/16/2006
Malonga Casquelourd Center for the Arts (formerly the Alice Arts Center)
1428 Alice Street (cross street 14th), Oakland

Remembering Rachel Corrie

We will celebrate the life and activism of Rachel Corrie, a 23-year-old ISM volunteer who was killed by Israeli Occupation Forces March 16, 2003 as she nonviolently resisted the demolition of a family home in the Gaza Strip in Palestine. Let us join together to stand in solidarity with Palestinians and all peoples struggling against ethnic cleansing and oppression and for social justice.
This last entry is the most intriguing, as it features some notable speakers. In fact, the first speaker mentioned is Huwaida Arraf. Who is she? She is someone who frightens our enemies!

On January 29th, Shapiro and his Palestinian American fiancee, Huwaida Arraf of Roseville, Michigan, praised suicide bombers’ missions and “martyrdom” in the Palestine Chronicle. “This is no less of a jihad. This is no less noble than carrying out a suicide operation. And we are certain that if these men were killed during such an action, they would be considered shaheed Allah [martyred].”
She gets it! How else could we possibly envision a diverse world without exploitation and oppression?
